Lin Lin: Advocating Good Family Traditions, Healthy Social Practices
October 24, 2023"I felt honored that I was elected a delegate to the 13th National Women's Congress (NWC) of China. I will learn about the needs of more women, and I will pass on the concept of family building to more families. As every family promotes its good family traditions, healthy social practices will be established," says Lin Lin, president of the Full-time Mothers Women's Federation, in Nanxiang, a town in Jiading District, in Shanghai.
The federation is the first of its kind in Shanghai. When it was established, in 2019, the federation had 80 members. Now, it has nearly 500 members. During the past few years, Lin has led the members in providing voluntary services, to help residents improve their family education and their ability to start their own businesses. Lin's team also shares information about healthy lives, and helps residents increase legal knowledge. Under the guidance of professionals, some full-time mothers have become psychological counselors and/or family education mentors.
"Our country has numerous families. Every family's dream is closely related to the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation. I will pass on both President Xi Jinping's discourses on the importance of family, family education and virtues, and on the spirit of the NWC, to our federation. If residents of our community can manage their families well, our society will become more harmonious," says Lin.
She notes the federation has provided a platform for full-time mothers to display their talents and professional skills. She believes, through the platform, Chinese society will better understand women's needs and wishes. Lin hopes the federation will encourage full-time mothers to participate in the management of the community (during the next five years), so the federation and individuals can achieve their development.
